I'm not sure why you installed Textadept to your `~/.textadept/` folder,
which is normally your "userhome". (I didn't see this from your first
e-mail because it's so non-standard!) The last line in Textadept's default
`init.lua` that you posted loads your `~/.textadept/init.lua`, but that is
Textadept's default `init.lua` due to your installation, and that calls
your `~/.textadept/init.lua`, ... 200 times until the error.

Install Textadept somewhere else and you should be fine :)
