Thanks for looking into this,....I realize I probably didn't give enough
info, and I think I had mis-understood the packages that were available !! I
had downloaded the
so your reasoning is correct that I did not have the correct source
package (sorry).

So, I have downloaded the
re-compile from source. My platform is Ubuntu 8.10, AMD 64. I've unpacked
the zip file, gone to the src/scintilla-st/gtk directory, and run make. I'm
now getting an error trying to create LexLPeg.o as follows:

R -I ../include -I ../src -I ../../scite/lua/include -c ../src/LexLPeg.cxx
../src/LexLPeg.cxx: In function ‘bool InitDoc(lua_State*, const char*,
../src/LexLPeg.cxx:188: error: ‘luaopen_lpeg’ was not declared in this scope
../src/LexLPeg.cxx:188: error: ‘LUA_LPEGNAME’ was not declared in this scope

Any hints ?
