OK - I searched this group again and found the following thread:

mention by Mitchell that adding the following line to your init.lua
should achieve what I want.

textadept.size = {100, 100}

I have added this to my init.lua but when Textadept loads I get the
following error message:

...ocuments and Settings\USER/.textadept/init.lua:7: attempt to index
global 'textadept' (a nil value)

I don't quite understand where I'm going wrong and would appreciate
any help.
